Canadian snowboarder Jasey-Jay Anderson overcame a 0.76 second deficit in the the final of men’s parallel giant slalom, to win gold Saturday at Cypress Mountain.
Anderson triumphed through fog and rain, edging rival Benjamin Karl of Austria,who took silver.

After day 4 in Vancouver, the Americans stay on top of the leaderboard with 8 Olympic medals. Team Canada added a silver medal to their collection today keeping them tied for fourth in the medal count race. Notably, Switzerland had an incredible fourth Olympic day, getting on the medal board with three gold medals.

Nicolien Sauerbreij of the Netherlands maintained the consistency during the competition to take the gold in the snowboard parallel giant slalom final, at the Vancouver Olympic Games.
In the misty Cypress Mountain, Sauerbreij rode the final against Russia’s Ekaterina Ilyukhina where the Dutch got the first snowboard medal for her country. Ilyukhina took the silver.

In his third Olympic appearance, Alexei Grishin of Belarus finally captured a gold medal on Thursday on Cypress Mountain, while the Canadian men were shutout of a medal finish.
